Ok, here’s a very late post, from December last year when hubs and I were invited to VIP launch of Brocka in Canal Walk.
Brocka would like to bring the food truck concept to malls. I like the young, urban and edgy interior, including the bright yellow container (or fake container..?)…. 🙂
So for the launch event, we had a buffet selections of Veteran Burger, Mexican Burger, Ribelicious Burger and Mother Clucker Burger. The price range between R69-R95 for burger and chips and R79-105 for burger, chips and soda. I saw in their site a Vegatarian Burger is on offer too, consisting of falafel and garlic mayo (R69-R79).
Hubs opted for the gigantic Mex Burger. I had a taste and loved the saucy spicy burger with soft buns, chili poppers, chili sauce and avo. It’s an explosion of exciting filling in one bun! I can tell the burger was nice, even for a person who doesn’t really eat burger like me 🙂
I took the Smoky Jalapeno Wings (R79-R89) and Ribs BBQ (R115-R125). As a fan of Ribs, of course I would opt for delicious saucy ribs! The Wings was also quite delish.
Brocka served the food, food truck way, in recyclable paper boxes and papers and bamboo cutlery. I am grateful for it as it means water saving in Cape Town water crisis situation right now. However, the bamboo fork and knife weren’t quite working for the ribs and wings, so I just then dug it with my fingers and as we had young kids, wet wipes are always handy in my bag to wipe those sticky fingers 🙂
We had refreshing nojito (R35). The evening was closed with desserts, we shared a Gold Digger milkshakes (R59) and Usual Suspect Waffle (R49).
That was a pleasant evening with yummy food and good companies. We shared a table with Suidooster stars too. Thank you, Brocka for hosting us 🙂
