Ocean View Penthouse, Strand

The sunken lounge – sunset view

Nestled in the prime Beach Rd, Strand (Western Cape), Ocean View Penthouse is a touch of luxury, comfy and style.  The amazing (almost) 360 degree view of the surrounding mountains, ie. Table Mountain and Gordon’s Bay mountains and the view of the beach are first class. No matter what time of the day and night, the view is just breathtaking!

Our first impressions of Ocean View Penthouse the moment we opened the foyer door… was that of spacious, immaculate, classy and high-end luxurious.

the smallest bedroom consisting two single beds.

There are three en suite bedrooms downstairs all are tastefully designs. The two en suite bedrooms are on the left wing of the penthouse. Next to each other, the smallest bedroom, comprising of two singled beds and an opened bathroom (shower, bathtub and toilet). When I said smallest, it is still spacious! A corner white couch and lots of comfy cushions are in this room. My two youngest kids shared this room. While my oldest got comfortable at the next bedroom with the view of Gordon’s Bay and its own balcony. The bathroom in this room is adjacent to the bedroom with shower and toilet with its own  doors.

The right wing en suite bedroom featuring a separate toilet, a shower and a bathtub adjacent to the bedroom. There is an access to the right wing balcony, boasting Table Mountain view and the surrounding mountains. The Jacuzzi with outdoor sitting area is just right opposite this bedroom.

To go to the right wing bedroom, you will need to pass the braai room and the TV room.

me, busy preparing snack for the family in the open-plan kitchen.

Back to the foyer, a powder room is in the right hand side (under renovation), right next to the elegant staircases. Further on the left hand side is the spacious fully equipped kitchen and a scullery.  Dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer are located in scullery area.   The mugs and some pots are from Le Cruset 🙂

Please note this is a self catering penthouse.  Although it’s fully equipped with quality appliances and crockery. Mostly we ate out or bought take-away during our stay there. Here is the list of strictly halaal eateries in Strand for your ease of reference.

The penthouse is serviced every day except for Sundays.

The sunken lounge – in the evening

The 8 seaters come with spacious dining table next to the sunken lounge. The lounge offered 180 degree view of the oceans and the surroundings with enclosed doubled-volume glassed window/wall.

The elegant study is located upstairs leading to the main suite.  There are two (her and his) en suite bathrooms in the main bedroom.  One  with a shower and another one with a bathtub, both with toilets. The high-tech TV in the main bedroom is tucked away underneath the ottoman so that it won’t obstruct the stunning view from your bed.  Luxurious, luxurious, luxurious!

Study upstairs, check out the glass flooring!
The main suite with unobstructed view. Sliding door and curtains are available should you need more privacy.

All bedrooms and rooms are equipped with  air-conditioned.  Fast Wifi is available throughout. Toiletries (soaps, shampoos and lotions) are provided as well as towels.

During our visit, the Jacuzzi was empty. Therefore should you need to use the Jacuzzi, please mention it while booking. The penthouse is located in a (residential) apartment building, namely Ocean View. Therefore there is no dedicated reception for the Penthouse. You will be met and taken to the penthouse by the MK Tours and Travel staff upon check in.  Subsequently, she would come to the penthouse upon check out.  To get access to the apartment, you will need to dial an automatic number, the gate would be opened thereafter.  Just a hint, you may need to give your spouse’s (or whoever staying with you in the penthouse) cell numbers to be linked to the gate. As the gate only works with the preregistered cell numbers in case you go out separately.

There is a swimming pool in the building, unfortunately it is under major construction.  However, the beach is right opposite, my family enjoyed fishing and playing in the water plus looking around the weekend market and shops.

Children are allowed to stay, but unfortunately not for toddlers.  There are a lot of breakable glasses/ornaments. Plus the main bedroom, the stairs and the balcony are not toddlers safe/friendly.

I was delighted to learn that the penthouse is tastefully decorated, among other colors, with my fave, turquoise. Immediately I felt at home.

MK Tours and Travel Agency offering an airport or transport and car hire from Cape Town to the penthouse in Strand with stylish fleet of cars. From Maserati to BMW to Mercedes. Also on offer, is touring from False Bay tour to Whale Route and many more.

Overall, our stay was enjoyable, relaxing with a touch of… well..many touches of high-end luxurious 🙂 I must say the 3d architecture drawing of the the rooms in the website are not doing them justice! As the reality, the penthouse is much much more classy and luxurious. As we left the penthouse, I just heard our children chirping, “Mum and Dad can we stay here again next time….?” 🙂
